How does Hair Transplant work?

 

With hair transplant procedure, healthy hair follicles that are genetically resistant to balding are extracted from the donor area – this is usually the lower back of the head that’s rarely affected by baldness – and implanted on the area which is suffering from hair loss.

There are three different hair transplant techniques, Direct Hair Implantation, Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) and Strip.

Hair Transplant Techniques

Healthy hair follicles are extracted from the donor area – this is usually the lower back of the head that’s rarely affected by baldness – and are implanted on the area which is suffering from hair loss.

Direct Hair Implantation

Direct Hair Implantation is simple as 1-2-3. It’s the latest hair transplant technique, available only at DHI Medical Group clinics.

    Hair follicles are extracted one by one from the donor area using a specifically designed disposable tool with the diameter of 1mm or less.

    Extracted hair follicles are collected and kept at a specific temperature and in a solution that enhances their development after placement.

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)

In 2002, DHI Medical Group introduced to the world the hair transplant technique known as Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE). Few years later, we stopped providing this procedure, as we have developed Direct Hair Implantation.

Strip Harvesting

Strip hair transplant is the oldest and, unfortunately, the most common hair transplant technique until today. DHI Medical Group stopped Strip surgeries back in 2002.

What is the best Hair Transplant Technique?

 

In 2002, the DHI MEDICAL GROUP introduced to the world the hair transplant procedure known as Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE). As a result, we immediately stopped offering conventional strip removal surgery.

In our early days, it often took our hair transplant doctors over 10 hours to extract 500 grafts or 1,000 hairs. This is testament to the dedication our organization had in the past and still has today in our mission to provide only the best treatment for our patients.

Because of our dedication and commitment, the teaching efforts of the DHI ACADEMY and our advanced patented technology, we are proud of the advances we have made. We are now able to extract and place 4,000 hairs in 7 hours and 6,000 in a two day session.

Consequently, without sacrificing quality, our progress and efficiency has enabled us to effectively reduce the average cost of our procedures from 10 Euros per hair to 1.5 Euros per single hair follicle. But our policy is not to charge by the hair. Instead we charge per hair transplant session. This change has been a step forward in ensuring quality and patient satisfaction.

The Best Hair Transplant Technique

 

Unlike with other hair transplant methods – such as FUE and FUT (Strip) -, with Direct Hair Implantation, there is no need for reception incisions or holes on the recipient area. Hair follicles are implanted directly to the area using the patented DHI implanter tool. Thanks to this there is full control of depth, direction and angle of placement of each graft.

Unlike other hair transplant methods, DHI  Direct Hair Implantation does not include scalpels, reception incisions or stitches. The hair follicular units are extracted one by one using a specifically designed disposable tool with the diameter of 1mm or less to avoid trauma to the area.

With the DHI Direct Hair Implantation, there is no processing of the hair follicles in order to avoid the risk of necrotic cuttings and also to avoid the effects of staying outside their natural environment for too long. Instead, with the DHI Direct Hair Implantation the extracted hair follicles are directly placed and kept at a specific temperature and in a solution that enhances their development after placement.
